On The TBR List:
This week I have been re-reading Grateful as F*ck By Francesca Amber. Yes I started this close to the beginning of Jan and got distracted by a million and one other things. I am afraid to say I fell off the gratitude wagon a little. The book is fantastic and very easy to follow, unfortunately I need to work on consistency when it comes to my gratitude and manifestation rituals… they tend to fall away when I am busy. But back on track this week!
Goals Smashed This Week:
Oh this week has been an amazing week for Goal Smashing! This week I have planned and scheduled a tonne of amazing social media content ahead of time so I can free myself up for some more amazing projects! I have also been offered an content writing/ editorial role for an amazing Spiritual Foundation which I am Super excited about. This is something that proves what I have said before… align and work on you your goals and the rest will follow! This role is very much in alignment with me right now and I cannot wait!
Planning:
We have a lot in the pipeline for Single Mum Unhinged. Lots of new ideas are being drafted and worked on as we speak! But stay tuned for next weeks blog where we will be diving into the Red Flags you need to be looking out for when dating as a single mum!
Featured iconic Single Mum: Maya Angelou
This weeks Iconic Single Mum In The Spotlight is Maya Angelou. How could we not choose this amazing woman as our first ever feature?! Maya was an American poet, Author, Screenwriter, Activist and Actress. Her Auto biographies explored the themes of economic, racial, and sexual oppression.
Maya Angelou was awarded the National Medal of Arts (2000) and the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2010). additionally She won three Grammy Awards for her spoken-word albums (1993, 1995, and 2002). In 1994 she was awarded the Spingarn Medal by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
Maya Angelou was one of the first African American women to have a screenplay produced as a feature film! She became a mother when she was only 16 years old! Although married and divorced twice, she remained a single Mother for the majority of her adult life.
The achievements listed above barely even scratch the surface of what Maya achieved in her 86 years of life which is why she deserves our recognition today as one of the strongest and most inspirational single mothers!
Maya Angelou was an absolute superstar! So It feels fitting to end this weeks Unhinged Edit with an excerpt from one of her poems:
