Whether you are in a long-distance relationship, or maybe you cannot get out the house to go on a physical date due to childcare issues. Virtual Dating from the comfort of your home may be a great opportunity for you to stay connected with someone you love or are in the beginning stages of dating. I know, I know, this may be a little out of your comfort zone, and maybe you were hoping that the days of having to Zoom call were over after covid times. But bare with me and give these creative Virtual Date Night Ideas a try.

Why Have A Virtual Date Night?

Dating whilst a Single mum can bring many unique challenges, but don’t fret as I am a whizz at thinking outside the box and taking a different route!

In any type of relationship and at any stage, one of the most important things you can do to get to know each other and to keep the spark alive is to spend good quality time together. Luckily these days it doesn’t have to be face to face. Technology and social media has given us many new and different ways of connecting with people all over the world.

I know you may be wondering how on earth can a facetime call with my boyfriend be the same as actually seeing them in real life? Well it isn’t of course, there are some differences. But I have compiled this awesome list of the best virtual date ideas for you to try out!

There are plenty of options now to do online wine tastings. Covid was good for something I guess!

You could both sign up together or better yet how about sharing your favourite bottle of wine, each buying your own or sending it to each other and create your very own virtual tastings?

I have to admit, this is probably a favourite and number one on this list as I am quite partial to a nice glass of wine!

It can be quite tricky as a single mum to travel and explore new places.

But, until a point when you are able to, why not try out a virtual tour in the city your date in in? Or better yet, one that neither of you have been to?

Whether you are into History, Art, science or Fashion, explore the culture of these museums together, without even having to leave home.

This may be THE most fun way to do a video call!

There are many ways you can do this. Either on a games console or just video call or send videos of yourselves dancing.

I can’t dance to save my life, the most i do is follow the moves on sky Live! But it is great fun and a good way to lighten the mood if you are both feeling the strain of long distance dating.

This is great if you are both gamers.

Whether you have a favourite online game that you both play, or choose a new one to change things up a bit, there are so many fun options here! You deon’t even have to be real gamers to give this one a go!

But if you are, Grab those headsets and controllers and get your game on!

Whenever I pop into the local coffee shop there is always someone sat on their laptop or on their phone. I have often taken my work to a coffee shop, it is lovely to have a new atmosphere, it gets the creativity flowing!

But why not take your headphones along and bring your date?

You can both go to your favourite one and show each other around and chat over a freshly brewed coffee?

Ok, so I am not a gamer, but I do love good old fashioned board games!

This will work better if you both have the same game obviously, but there is no reason why you can’t blow the dust of of that monopoly board, or get naughty with a game of cards against Humanity together!

Plus nothing shows a persons true colours than a bit of friendly competition!

Grab your popcorn and a blanket and snuggle down on the sofa to watch your favourite movie, whilst on facetime with your significant other!

Watching movies together, laughing, crying or hiding behind the cushions can be an intimate experience and without the Netflix and chill vibe, you will actually finish the movie!

There are also other options, Sky Live, Netflix and Disney Plus all have the option to watch together on screen!

Are you or your partner a dab hand with a paint brush?

There are many options for online Paining classes that you could attend together.

Sip and paint classes are a thing now too which is awesome!

Join an Online Mixology class together and get stirring and shaking whilst learning about all the wonderful flavour combinations and garnishes!

Depending on how long you have been together, you could go through your photo memories, reminisce on the times you weren’t so far apart and all of those special occasions!

Or better yet how about showing each other all those embarrassing baby family photos?!

This is such a nice way to introduce each other to your history and get to know one another on a deeper level if you haven’t already!

Do you have a new recipe that you really want to try out but the kids wont appreciate it? Or maybe you want to showcase your cooking skills with a tried and tested recipe?

How about cooking together of facetime, lighting some candles, pouring a glass and having a romantic candle lit meal together?

As I have shown you above, Date nights do not need to be over just because you cannot be together in person.

  1. These are ideas I would not have considered doing for sure. These are great ideas for connecting with family members too that live afar. I have to agree that at least COVID was good for something.

    1. Yes, I also use some of these with friends as we live quite far away at the minute! It can be just as fun as in person!
