Sleep is one of the most essential and important things that we must do in our 24 hours each day! So why is it that even after a busy day, some of us really struggle to drift off to sleep? There are so many reasons why we may struggle with sleep, which we will delve into in this post. But fear not my sleepy dream chasers… I have found the THREE Most Amazing Guided Sleep Meditations Guaranteed to ensure you get a restful sleep tonight!

Our Tricky Brains

Sleep is when our brain re- energises itself! We need to sleep to give our minds a rest. And not having enough sleep, or not having good sleep quality can have a major effect in how our brains function.

So why do so many of us suffer sleep problems if it is so essential for our mind and body to get a good nights sleep?

Good question! There are so many reasons. It could be that you have a sleep disorder such as Insomnia. If you have tried absolutely everything and even these meditations don’t work, I would suggest popping along to the Dr’s. Just to see if there are any underlying conditions preventing you from getting proper sleep!

It could also be that you are not eating properly. Not getting enough exercise, or have created some very bad habits regarding your sleep hygiene.

Occasionally my wild, overthinking brain likes to keep running away with itself into the early hours of the morning! I hate those nights when it’s middle of the night and I am tossing and turning in my bed, unable to flip that switch off! luckily, since I have been using sleep meditation practices, those nights are few and far between. I now have less trouble letting go of the day and drifting off to sleep.

How do Guided Sleep Meditations Work?

I wrote a previous article on Healing your broken heart using Guided meditation… but meditation can be used for so many things and sleep is one of those things.

Guided meditations use both a Narrators voice and background music to bring you out of your thoughts of the day and into the present moment. They then guide you gently to deep relaxation and eventually off into a deep sleep.

There are varying different types of sleep meditations. Some ask you to do a body scan, which is where you think on each body part and check in to present moment. Some will even take you into a deep sleep hypnosis- They’re my favourites!

Mindfulness meditation can be used to lower your heart rate, stress levels and calm your mental state to guide you to inner peace, which can only be a good thing for sleep right?

Just remember there are so many different ones out there, you could be able to drift off better listening to a female voice for example, so pick the type of meditation that is right for you!

    1. Yes!!! I also have this problem sometimes. My brain likes to just keep running on and on. These really do help me so much on those nights. I switch them up too!
