3 Amazing Money Apps Every Single Mum Needs

Financial education has been one of the most transformative things in my life as a single mum, and these 3 amazing money apps have literally changed how I view and use money!

Just like many other females, especially those of us growing up in poverty, I was never taught about money. Not at all, other than how to count it and pay for shopping.

I knew nothing about different bank accounts, investing, saving and debt.

In fact, growing up on a council estate, debt was something that was seen as just a regular, normal thing. Everyone was in debt.

I remember the provident lady doing her rounds on our street and sitting in my mum’s kitchen, filling in the forms and counting out the money.

This was a regular thing, my mum was stuck in a constant spiral of provident loans just to get by.

The impact of poor financial education

I, myself have been stuck in the depths of debt, I have been unable to feed myself and have almost lost my home.

All of this came about because I had absolutely no idea how to properly make money, use it or save it.

I am not going to lie and tell you that im 100% debt free and have millions sitting in my savings, or that I am an investment mastermind…

But, educating myself when it comes to my personal finances using these amazing money apps, has literally transformed how I make, spend and feel about my money.

And I truly believe it will for you too!

Somewhere along the lines my mum did manage to get herself out of that spiral, but I couldn’t tell you how, as money was just not discussed, in fact it was taboo to talk about money back then.

Because of this, I make sure I regularly speak to my children about money. Some may disagree but I do think that shielding kids from conversations around money does more harm than good.

I am so glad the world is slowly changing.

So lets take a look at these amazing money apps that have really helped me on my financial journey!

(Disclaimer: I do not make any money or recieve incentives for sharing these apps)

Financielle.

Female hands holding piggy bank, graduation caps, diploma and money on pink background. Student loan concept

This is my absolute fave for budgeting! but it is waaaay more than just a budgeting app.

Financielle strives to educate women around money, saving investing.

This is an amazing one to start with as you can enter in all of your incomings and outgoings, set yourself goals and educate yourself at the same time.

It has a fun feel to it which really helps with my money mondset as it doesn’t feel like a chore. getting started is simple and easy.

They send out articles often that really help keep you accountable and on top of your finances.

You start with their playbook and move on to the money MOT and then the investing workbooks.

This app has become a must have for me and really kept me on track to achieving my goals!

Download it here. I promise you will thank me later!

Revolut.

woman holding a credit card

I initially only downloaded this as my sister sent me the link as she wanted some free money! (they regularly offer incentives to sign up!)

I already had my regular high street account and wasn’t looking for another… little did I know that this would become my number one account!

They are not a regular bank at all! yes you have an account, you can transfere money, pay bills etc but there is sooooo much more to it!

You can have seperate saving vaults, set goals with them, and the interest is higher than most basic accounts!

Not only that, but they also offer investment and crypto opportunities (I would recommend doing your research before investing as i am no expert!)

Again the app is fun and easy to use.

Download the app here to get started!

Freetrade.

Interest rate and dividend concept, Businessman is calculating income and return on investment in percentage. income, return, retirement, compensation fund, investment, dividend tax, stock market

If you have managed to get your money under control and are ready to start investing but scared to dip your toe in, this is a fantastic way to start!

Investing, although risky is an amazing way to get your money working for you!

A few years ago, i never even knew what investing was! I thought it was just something that businesses did :face palm:

Little did I know that the average Joe can invest and make money on their money too!

Freetrade makes investing super simple (remember that your money is at risk and never invest unless you are willing to lose it all)!

It helps you to gradually build your profile no matter how small you wish to start, invest tax-efficiently and they have great customer support.

There is also a community so you can chat to other investors, get hints and tips and find out what is working for others.

It is a fantastic opportunity to take those first steps!

Download here to begin your investment journey!
